" Even God himself couldn't sink this  Ship"

History of the Titanic

"The Titanic left from Southampton, England on her maiden voyage on Wednesday, April 10, 1912 to New York City. She was the largest ship ever built at the time, about three football fields long and twelve stories high. The Captain, E.J. Smith, had recieved 7 ice warnings but he paid no attention and increased Titanic's speed. That Sunday an iceberg was sighted by the lookouts in the crow's nest. The Titanic could not turn in time and the iceberg scraped along the starboard side of the ship, puncturing 300 feet long. Two hours and forty minutes later the Titanic sank to the bottom of the ocean. There were not enough lifeboats on the Titanic for all the passengers. In fact, there wasn't enough for half the passengers, yet it was more than the law required at the time. 2,223 people were on board this ill-fated voyage and died. Only 706 survived."
